Cemetery

Records – maintain a record of all graves, reserved plots and ashes burials
Burials – act as a liaison point with local undertakers regarding burials
Paper work – manage the paperwork involved with a burial
Cemetery Fees – maintain and publish a list of cemetery fees and review as necessary and collect fees as required
Memorial stones – approve
Maintenance of site – arrange grass cutting as part of the churchyard contract and arrange for hedges by Station Road to be cut
Churchyard
Contract out grass cutting and manage contract
Ad hoc maintenance as required
Check gravestones for any health and safety issues
Common Shares
Maintain records of common share tenants, rents etc.
Review rents on an annual basis
Invoice tenants annually and collect rents
Manage changes of tenancy and issue tenancy agreements
Review use of common share land and decide future policy
Defibrillator
Check regularly to keep in working order
Liaise with Ambulance Service on replacement equipment etc.

Millennium Green
The official name for the green is Ampleforth Millennium Green Trust. It is a registered charity, number 1086461 and Ampleforth Parish Council is the sole trustee.
Contract out maintenance and manage the contract
Planning
Review all planning applications relating to the village and give comments
Reporting
Report any issues regarding roads, pavements, drains, road signs etc. to the appropriate authority and follow up if necessary
Street Furniture
The following street lights are owned and maintained by Ampleforth Parish Council:
- By the Village Hall
- Station Road – in garden off track which runs west, below the cemetery
- Path/Track north off Back Lane to East End
- Back Lane/East Lane heading east from St Benedict’s School.
Maintain an inventory of street furniture – seats, litter and dog waste bins, grit bins, street lights etc.
Ensure that items are fit for purpose and replace if necessary
Trees
Complete a tree survey every 5 years (last survey November 2023)
Complete 5 year maintenance plan resulting from survey
